Happy New Year!
2024 Dates
The first SEE Branch event of 2024 will be a Range Day at the British Sporting Rifle Club (BSRC), Bisley GU24 0PB, followed by the Branch AGM, on Saturday 3rd February 2024.
The Range fee is £30 for the day. Static targets for practice and zeroing, plus running deer, both at 100m. Please remember to bring your FAC and Shooters Competency Certificate and make sure you sign the Range Register if you are shooting.
Shooting commences at 9.00am. The AGM will commence as soon as shooting finishes, usually from around 3 pm. Please also confirm your attendance to Neil.
Members who do not have a Shooters Competency Certificate (SCC) will be able to shoot under one-to-one supervision and may make arrangements to take the Competency Certificate examination on a future occasion by Zoom if they wish. Please contact Neil as soon as possible at the email below if you wish to take the exam, on line. If you home load ammunition and get your SCC from BDS you will need to sign and return to BDS by email the declaration found here: https://nra.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/NRA-Code-of-Practice-for-Handloading-Firearms-Ammunition.pdf .
Our Range Days suit everyone, both our regular attendees, and hopefully those who we have not seen for some time – plus those who may not have attended a BDS SE E Range Day before. You can be assured of a thoroughly enjoyable day, with access to the static targets for zeroing, practice and training for those that would like it, plus the running deer moving target. Please also bring any paper targets you wish to use for zeroing or load testing. A great opportunity to meet your fellow members, exchange views, and to improve your marksmanship and group size!
NRA permit us to shoot non lead ammunition following a protocol under supervision of the Range Officer.
For the AGM, existing elected officers and committee are standing for re-election, plus Clive Hilton who was co-opted this year. Any other nominations should be submitted to the Branch Secretary 21 days prior to the meeting date. The branch accounts will also be presented at the meeting.
Further diary dates to save. The second event this year will be our annual Stalkers’ Shoot to be held at BSRC, Bisley on Sunday 9th June 2024. There will be the usual array of prizes and the Stalkers Cup. More on this event soon, but please put the date in your diaries.
There will also be a Christmas shoot on Saturday 30th November.
The ranges are expensive to book and we cannot afford to subsidise the cost and we rely on volunteer range officers. If members want the facility to shoot, practice and train at Bisley, including retaining and annotating your shot targets, then it must be used. If usage is low again this year then we cannot book range time at a loss for next year.
We hope that we shall see more of you in 2024 at the ranges!
We will also be attending various shows and country fairs as usual so do visit our stand at the advertised shows. The dates and details will be posted on the website in due course.
