Glyn Ingram, BDS Training Manager is running the New Forest Marathon on 11th September in aid of BDS. Visit his Just Giving page to watch his progress and make a donation.
Glyn says: "I was a keen runner when I was younger and have always been active as a deer stalker but I felt that, now my role as The British Deer Society’s Training Manager involves a lot of office based work and quite a bit of travelling, running was something that I should pick up again.
Where I live in Norfolk is a fantastic area for running and a lot of my training so far has been on the coastal paths or in the lovely local parkland.
The opportunity to rise to the challenge of running the twenty-six mile marathon, something that I have only done once before many years ago, and to combine it with raising funds for the British Deer Society seemed too good to miss.
It goes without saying that the New Forest is a spectacular place to do this with its rich history and wealth of deer and wildlife. The New Forest Marathon has a great reputation as a friendly and well organised race and, like Norfolk, it’s also reasonably flat!
I hope that people will support me and maybe it will also encourage others to undertake similar challenges raising funds for the BDS."
The New Forest Marathon (http://www.newforestmarathon.co.uk/#top) takes place on Sunday September the 11th and Glyn will be keeping us updated on his training, preparation and, of course, the result on the day. If for reason of illness, injury or cancellation he is unable to complete the event then he undertakes to fulfil his commitment at the next available opportunity.
