Good evening and welcome to The British Deer Society

Notifiable diseases

As we near the end of the busy culling season it is worth remembering our duties with regard to properly preparing and inspecting the carcasses of the deer we cull.

Properly trained and experienced Deer Managers are likely to be the first people to identify signs of ill health in deer either by close observation of live animals or during the diligent inspection of carcasses.

Notifiable diseases are animal diseases that you’re legally obliged to report to the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), even if you only suspect that an animal may be affected.
