2019 Events Review
We had a fairly busy summer in 2019 attending agricultural shows and the Midland Game Fair. At the Midland Game Fair we had Charles Smith-Jones signing copies of his latest book and we also had the popular ‘Forest walk quiz’. Sadly it looks like this may have been the last Midland Game Fair.
An enjoyable evening was had with Patrick Faulkner who gave an exceptional talk on ‘Venison, Food of Kings’ complete with tasters, he concluded with a talk on bullet placement for which he brought along his ‘wire framed’ roe deer to explain.
We attended the Newport Agricultural Society Show, this was the first time we attended this event which was very successful.
Awareness days were held at Chasewater Park and Cannock Chase Visitor Centre at Marquis Drive.
Our last event was a Butchery demonstration by Dominic Hayes, our very own ‘Master Butcher’. This was limited to ten people and was oversubscribed. Another is scheduled shortly.

The BDS is concerned over several aspects of the Scottish Government’s response to the Deer Working Group’s recommendations regarding the management of wild deer.
At the National Game Dealers Association AGM members voted to commit to sourcing all Game from lead-free supply chains from 1st July 2022.
The Chairman of The British Deer Society, Professor Rory Putman, has informed the Board of Trustees that he intends to stand down in May.
