The branch is getting short of Range Control Officers. If you have any interest in training to be an RCO, please could you contact the branch.
There is some financial support for going through the training.
Our dates for Cawdor Range are as follows:
April 25 (Sunday)
June 5 (Saturday)
July 18 (Sunday)
August 22 (Sunday)
September 12 (Sunday)
October 31 (Sunday)
November 6 (Saturday)
Other Events
The Scottish Interbranch event is scheduled for 28 August at Atholl rifle club. Its exact format has yet to be decided. If any member would be interested in attending an inter-branch range training or CPD day, then again, please let us know.
12 September is being set aside as a morning event for the Hindsight group and an afternoon Guest Day. We will likely finish up with a BBQ.
We will hope to have BDS rifles available, or at least the opportunity for those without a FAC to shoot on the day.
The dates are, of course, subject to COVID restrictions and some or all may not take place depending on the restrictions in place at the time.
Highland Field Sports Fair
Finally, it remains to be seen whether the Highland Field Sports Fair will take place in 2021; we will let you know as soon as we do. If it does go ahead, then we will be in our normal spot and will hope to see you there!
Training & Stalker Development
We are keen to encourage new member stalkers & to nurture their progress to encourage best practice. The branch has some generous members who will mentor beginners.
Additionally, there are opportunities for Stalking at Altyre for BDS members.
Preferential Rates for BDS Members
BDS and Altyre Estate are pleased to announce the launch of preferential rates for BDS members who wish to stalk Scottish woodland roe deer at Altyre Estate in Moray. Primarily aimed at those wishing to undertake DSC2 training and/or assessment, the estate can offer accompanied stalks for cull roebucks and does with the estate stalker (Approved Witness) at a flat rate of £85 inc VAT per outing.
For more details, please contact the Altyre Estate office directly on 01309 672265 or by email at office@altyre.com www.altyre-estate.co.uk.
