Well the calendar and the weatherman on the TV have told me that we are officially in autumn and as I have noticed there are other signs to confirm this marker of the advancing year. The bucks -so obvious during the rut - have done their usual disappearing act and the brambles are luscious. Not only do they go well with a nice joint of roast venison they also stain shirts and coats remarkably well, as I am told so often when presenting the laundry!!!
Yorkshire Branch has been active throughout the summer; we have attended eight shows, given live simulations of deer stalking in action, live and recorded interviews to local radio stations and seen our members achieve some notable firsts - Helen Sixsmith completed her DSC Level 2 and Peter Netzel has successfully stalked and shot his first roebuck. The photographs of these two members show the satisfaction achieved through hard work and applications of knowledge to develop a skill. Congratulations to you both - it is a real pleasure to have you as members of the Branch AND the Society.
The remainder of the year is not all down hill from now on, the branch meetings resumed this week when we welcomed back Dave Stretton to give us all a refresher in cutting a carcase for the table. It always amazes me how that man can do so much with such a little knife.
