THE BRITISH DEER SOCIETY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY

The British Deer Society uses lotteries (raffles) as a method of fundraising in support of its educational and research work.

As holders of a Gambling Commission Licence to promote and operate lotteries, the British Deer Society is obliged to adhere to the requirements and objectives of The Gambling Act 2005. We take these obligations extremely seriously.

The following policy is in place to ensure people take part in any British Deer Society lotteries responsibly.

RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING

The British Deer Society has the following procedures to encourage responsible gambling and to encourage people to seek help should gambling become a problem for them:

A maximum of two books of raffle tickets are sent out to the membership within the Society's Journal or in any separate mailing at any one time.

All ticket batches and dispatches are recorded and monitored.

All ticket sales over £20 are recorded on the database

Members can request a self-exclusion from our database for future raffle mailings, which can be open ended or for a finite period.

Customers seeking to purchase tickets at Country Shows and Events will be politely but firmly refused should they appear to be under the influence of drugs or drink or are acting strangely.

If you or a family member feel that you are experiencing problems with gambling, you can seek support via GamCare by calling 0845 6000 133 or via their website www.gamcare.co.uk.

UNDERAGE GAMBLING

The British Deer Society has the following procedures in place to prevent underage players from participating in raffles we promote:

Our in-house database is checked to ensure persons are above the legal age limit before data is supplied for use in the raffle.

Cold data is screened to prevent any persons under the age of 16 being sent raffle tickets.

Any player found to be under 16 years of age will have any monies paid in relation to the raffle returned to them.

If a player enters the raffle stating they are over 16 years and subsequently this is found to be untrue, their prize will be forfeited, and entry money returned.

If our data is found to inadvertently include any persons under the age of 16 they will immediately be taken off the database.

At shows and events where age is in doubt, the purchaser will be asked for proof of identity. Where this is not forthcoming, sales will be refused.

THE BRITISH DEER SOCIETY POLICY ON FAIR AND OPEN DRAWS

The British Deer Society has the following procedures in place to ensure fair and open draws:

All draws take place either in public domain on the Society stand at a country event or at the British Deer Society administration offices with independent witnesses.

The winning tickets are selected by blind draw by a personality, and/or someone wholly unconnected to the raffle.

Winners and runners up are contacted by telephone or email and confirmed by post shortly after the draw and no later than 2 weeks following it.

A list of results is published on the British Deer Society website and in the British Deer Society Journal.

Rules of each raffle are published on the British Deer Society website.

Any complaints regarding any draw can be made directly to the British Deer Society by contacting the General Manager on 01425 655434 or by email at . We will make every effort to respond to initial complaints and queries within 48 hours of receipt of the complaint.
