Initially, an apology to members who were looking forward to the Butchery and Sausage/Burger making evening at the Tunnel House on 4th February. As Gloucestershire was hit by a weather warning, and we all disappeared in snow for a week, the remoteness of the venue and the road conditions meant we had to cancel at the last minute. We know you all have big trucks, but the idea of being left trapped at the Tunnel House with a dwindling supply of food and beer was not particularly desirable!
The evening was re-scheduled for Wednesday 11th March at 730 PM. Our AGM shall be held at 7PM - all members welcome to attend if they wish.
DSC 1 courses are the way forward for 2009, with HQ increasing our ever popular and highly regarded DSC1 course to three dates:
28th February / 1st March and 7th / 8th March (range day last Sunday)
18th and 19th April and 25th / 26th April (range day last Sunday)
31st October / 1st November and 7th / 8th November (range day last Sunday).
From the last courses we ran in 2008, all candidate feedback was very complimentary and positive and we look forward to attaining great results this year also. As ever, our training courses are run by the capable Mike Bagnowiec - 01275 373415.
Prior to the re-scheduled AGM, the committee remains unchanged, with Nigel Maydew as Chairman and John Milbourn as Secretary. A replacement for John is still sought; any interested members keen to involve themselves in the committee are more than welcome to step forward!
Many thanks go to Paul Brokenshire who kindly donated 2 days shooting, to the 1st and 2nd placed winners of our members clay shoot, in January 2009. Both Guns had an excellent day and I am sure the competition shall be high for the sport on offer this year!
Come your time of reading this, you should all be receiving a Newsletter with the activities for the Branch for 2009. We shall be looking closely at the shows we attend where we encourage the Public to talk to us about their experiences with deer.
