Fixed Term Policy 1st August 2011 - 31st July 2012
The British Deer Society (Sales & Services) Ltd has arranged public and products liability insurance for BDS members (see Note 1) who wish to take part in the scheme. Product cover is for goods supplied or sold.
£ 10,000,000 limit in respect of all claims arising out of one original cause or accidental damage to property and/or accidental injury arising out of or in connection with the following recreational activities of deer stalking, conservation and conservation management, wild boar hunting and/or culling of wild boar, wild fowling, rabbit, pigeon and game shooting, vermin control, clay pigeon shooting, target shooting and zeroing by any BDS member (see Note 1) engaged in activities whether or not organised and arranged by the BDS.
The policy also covers humane despatch of deer or injured feral or wild animals, whether or not whilst engaged in activities organised or arranged by the British Deer Society at the time of such humane despatch.
Please note that this policy provides cover for shooting in groups.
Member to Member liability included.
£250 excess for each and every claim in respect of third party property damage/bodily injury.
The geographical limits of this policy apply to the United Kingdom and countries within the European Union but can be extended to worldwide (excluding USA and Canada). The policy is subject to UK jurisdiction.
This policy is available to British Deer Society members only -(see Note 1).
Note 1: To be eligible for this policy a member must have been a UK resident
for at least 1 year.
The insurance policy covers the insured for public liability up to £10,000,000 in respect of one incident anywhere in the United Kingdom and countries within the European Union whilst engaged in shooting and associated activities. Subject to UK jurisdiction.
The Insurance will run from 1st August 2011 and expire 31st July 2012.
The charge for the Stalking Insurance package for the year 1st August 2011 - 31st July 2012 is £21.00 for UK and EU cover (this amount covers
£16 premium + £5 taxes, Financial Standards Authority requirements, printed matter, postage and administration).
For BDS members joining the scheme for a part year after 1st February 2012 the charge will be £13.50 for UK and EU cover (this amount covers £11 premium + £2.50 taxes, Financial Standards Authority requirements, printed matter, postage and administration).
To extend cover to Worldwide (excluding USA and Canada) there will be an additional £5 premium payable for a full year's insurance, or £2.50 for a part year from 1st February.

Question 1:
If, as a private individual, I occasionally sell venison legally to a game dealer, am I still covered by the BDS insurance scheme as a non-professional?
Answer: YES, you are permitted to make up to £5,000 from your stalking activities and venison sales during the year.
Question 2:
If I rent a piece of ground and pay a portion of the venison sales proceeds to my landlord as part/total rent, am I still covered by the BDS Insurance scheme as a non-professional?
Answer: YES
Question 3:
I am employed by an estate as a professional full/part time stalker/ gamekeeper and am covered by the estate insurance whilst on my employer's business. If I stalk elsewhere as a private individual, can
I be covered for my private stalking as a non-professional under the BDS scheme?
Answer: YES
Question 4:
If I am called out to humanely despatch a wounded animal in a road traffic accident or elsewhere, am I still covered by the BDS Insurance scheme as a non-professional?
Answer: YES. Any call should be logged by the member and an incident number obtained if it is a police call out.

If I am invited to take part in an organised pheasant shoot or similar activity, will this BDS Insurance scheme cover me.
