Branch Programme 2012

South West Branch AGM

The South West Branch's AGM will take place on Sunday 12th February 2012 at the White Hart Hotel Okehampton starting at 2.30pm.

The main business of the day is to hear a report from the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer and to approve the Annual accounts and to elect/re-elect the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, President and Vice Chairman who currently are :- Paul Messenger, Nigel White, Roland Willet, Rosemary Bethel and Dave Murphy respectively.

There are also new committee members to be voted in place (Ian Sugden and Carmen Hocking) and also three current members will be standing down (as called for in the constitution) and will be standing again for re-election.
These are Tony Whitaker- Merchandising Officer, Mark Turner- Publicity Officer and John Stowers- Assistant Training Officer

If anyone wishes to be appointed as an Officer of the branch (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer or President) they must inform me in writing at least 21 days before the AGM and must be eligible to vote at the AGM i.e. be a paid up member of the Branch.

If anyone wants to join the Committee as a normal member, they need only make representation to the Committee on the day of the AGM, but it would be nice to know in advance so that we ensure they are included in the vote.

Deer Survey All members receiving the Deer Journal will have seen that it includes The Great British Deer Survey 2011. These deer surveys are very important in recording the distribution of deer in the UK. Your committee therefore urges each member to complete the survey for their area as best they can to enable the society to build an accurate map.

Photography

This coming year's competition is open to all and in the past the photographers with the horrendously expensive long telephoto lenses always seem to feature in the prizes with their stunning pictures. This has always made it difficult for the amateur with his compact camera to compete.  However this year's event sees a new class for compact cameras and even mobile phone pictures. So now, dear members, there is no excuse for not submitting your entries to the Secretary, who's contact info is above. Just state with your entries what camera devise you used and we will do the rest. Good luck and please send in those pictures.
