AGM
This will be held on Sunday 8th February 2009 at the Hartnol House Hotel, Bolham nr Tiverton, Devon at 2;30 pm prompt. If there is anything members would like to bring up concerning the branch or society please come along and be heard.
We look forward to seeing members there on the day.
MEMBERS EVENING
To be held on Friday 24th October at the Hartnoll House Hotel, Bolham, just outside Tiverton, Devon on the A396 road to Bampton/Exmoor.
The main speaker for the evening will be Peter Green the society veterinary officer and full time deer manager giving an update on blue tongue and other disease related issues. A must topic for all responsible deer stalkers/managers,
The other guest speakers will be John Comfort and Neil Sibley, both wildlife officers for the royal parks in London. The presentation will show their working life in managing over 450 red and fallow deer in the busy environment of our capital city.
We will run a raffle during the interval to raise funds for the branch. Any donations for the raffle will be greatly received. There will be a fee of £7-50 per person to cover our costs and boost our branch funds. This promises to be an interesting evening so please come along and support your branch. Non-members are welcome. The doors will be open at 6:30 pm to start the event at 7:00pm sharp.
ESTATE VISIT
This will be to see the deer in Melbury Park at Evershot just outside Yeovil on the A37 road to Dorchester. This is well signposted and only about a mile off the main road. Do not take the sign for Melbury Osmond village, but go on about half a mile and turn right for Evershot, Then come into the village centre and meet at the green. We will see the rut, and visit the estates new game larder.
The visit will be on Sunday 12th October at 2:00pm prompt, Please be there by 1:45 pm to sort out vehicles to go into the park as we will have to double up in cars to keep the number of vehicles low. Gates open and shut at 2:00pm and cannot be opened for latecomers. We will be able to get out and see the deer when in the estate under supervision of Richard Squire, the estate manager. Good pubs locally for lunch.
There will be a charge of £5 per person for this event. Numbers will be limited for this visit so if you wish to attend please ring either Tim Myers 01823-432312 or Graham Godbeer 01297-32767. This will be an interesting visit so please book early.
