STOP PRESS SHOOTING COMPETENCY** - South East and Wessex Members

 

From 1st January 2009 The Ministry of Defence (MoD) will require any civilian using MoD ranges (including Bisley) to hold a Certificate of Competence which will be valid for one year and require annual renewal.

 

To enable branch members to continue shooting at Bisley, South East and Wessex Branch have arranged with Chris Howard to run Certificate of Competence briefings for members. Other individuals are very welcome to enrol as BDS members to take advantage of these arrangements.

 

The presentation and test, lasting about two hours, will be available if required on the following days at 18.00 hours:

 

Wadhurst, Sussex   - 16th and 18th October 2008

 

Fordingbridge, Hampshire - 23rd and 24th October 2008

 

Midhurst, Sussex   - 13th and 15th November 2008

 

Note: The dates coincide with DSC Level 1 Training courses to take advantage of the same venues.

 

Important: Ten working days notice of attendance will be required, so please contact Chris Howard by email at as soon as possible if you wish to attend.

 

The cost of the test etc will be £10.00.

All BDS members needing a Certificate of Competence to shoot on MoD ranges should contact their local BDS branch to find out local arrangements.

 

From 1 January 2009, anyone arriving on an MoD range to shoot must carry their Certificate of Competence for inspection and recording by the range officials.
