Using a quality 3mm neoprene Napier had a neat sleeve made that covers the moderator and prevents objects coming into contact with it. Its straight forward effectiveness is astounding. Ironically the very design of sound moderators has potentially resulted in a serious noise problem for stalkers and shooters.
The expansion chambers, so vital for reducing the noise of the shot, actively resonate and amplify any noises made when the moderator is struck by branches or any other obstacles the stalker is likely to face.
Fortunately this potential problem now has a simple and economical solution.
A simple 28cm neoprene sleeve designed to slip over most Reflex T8 and T4 moderator which prevents objects from coming into contact with it. The sleeve also muffles the audible 'ting' that some claim to hear immediately after firing. The Napier muffler is very simple to fit and will have absolutely no effect on your zero. |
