2. It is open to all professional and amateur photographers of any nationality.
3. Entrants to the Adult competition must be aged 18 or over on 1st January 2012.
4. Entries must be of deer species that can be found in the UK.
5. A picture that has already won a prize (winner, runner-up or commended) in a major competition, national or international, cannot be entered in the competition.
6. Images that have been entered into a major competition where the results are still pending, are not eligible for entry.
7. Entries must be submitted as a printed photograph accompanied by a digital copy in Jpeg or Tiff format on a CD or DVD. Maximum size A4 or 10 x 8 inches.
Opening and closing dates
The competition is open for entries from 1st December 2012.
Closing date for the submission of entries is 1st February 2013.
Adults can enter a maximum of 6 images.
Young photographers can enter up to 6 images.

Judging
The panel of Judges will select images based upon technical skill, diversity, originality and creativity of composition. Judging will be anonymous.
Entries must include hard copy print and a digital file. Failure to produce a high-resolution file and hard copy will eliminate the entrant from the competition.
The organisers cannot be held responsible for emails that do not arrive due to the entrant's email security settings or restrictions placed by their Internet service provider.
All winners will be notified by phone or email after the Judging that will take place during March 2013. A list of the winners will be published on the British Deer Society website. Winners will be notified and the official announcement of the competition will be made during the British Deer Society Fiftieth Anniversary Celebrations in May 2013.
Awards and Prizes
The winning pictures, runners up and a selection of best entries will be included in a touring exhibition.
Copyright and permissions
1. By submitting images to the British Deer Society each entrant confirms and warrants that:
they are the sole author of each entry and that it is their original work;
they own the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each image;
they have the permission of anyone pictured in the image (or, where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian) for the usage rights required by the British Deer Society and will indemnify the British Deer Society against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement.
2. By entering the competition, you grant the British Deer Society and the competition sponsors and supporters, a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the images for any purpose directly connected with the competition for 12 months. This may include, but is not limited to: inclusion in a book of winning and commended images; display at exhibitions; display on a web browser for judging purposes; on the British Deer Society website and on the websites of sponsors and supporters; for use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional & specialist press giving information about or promoting the competition.
3. The British Deer Society reserves the right to retain submitted images within its library to be used subsequently expressly for its own charitable and educational purposes.
4. The British Deer Society will make every reasonable effort to ensure that name credits are given to any photograph published in any medium.
5. Free usage of any photograph will not be permitted by the British Deer Society, or any of its partners or sponsors outside of the scope of the competition and exhibition.
6. The British Deer Society, or any of its partners or sponsors, will not be using the images to create a general commercial library of the images entered into this competition.
7. The British Deer Society reserves the right to use images.
8. Any entry not accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope with the correct postage cannot be returned, and if not collected by 1st October 2013, will be destroyed/recycled.
9. Entrants retain the copyright to images submitted.
Finalists agree to take part in post-competition publicity.
Policies
1. The British Deer Society reserves the right to remove or refuse any entries from the competition for any reason.
2. Entries will be refused or removed if in the sole judgement of the British Deer Society they could reasonably be expected to breach or contravene any applicable law or bring the competition, a sponsor, or the photographer into disrepute. Such entries will be deemed as void.
3. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
4. Should the entries in any category fall below the standard required by the competition organisers and the judges, then the organisers reserve the right not to award prizes.
5. The British Deer Society's web Privacy Policy applies to the competition and use of the website.
Disclaimer
The information given in these Terms & Conditions is correct, but the British Deer Society reserve the right to change any of the above without prior notice. By entering the competition, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Any breach of these Terms by an entrant will void their entry. If a breach has occurred, but is discovered after the award of a prize, then the organisers may request the return of that prize.
