The British Deer Society - Photographic Competitions
The BDS inter branch photographic competition is to be re launched during this coming year 2010.
Branches will be asked to submit images from their own Branch competitions, and the winner will be awarded the title of British Deer Society Photographer of the Year.
The photographs you can view here on this site are taken from past Open and Members competitions by raw beginners, experienced amateurs, semi professionals as well as full time professional photographers on a variety of equipment from simple compact cameras to the latest digital SLRs with very long and very fast telephoto lenses. Regardless of the equipment they use, the one thing they all have in common is their love and appreciation of nature, their interest in and concern for deer and their enthusiasm for competition. After all, the equipment used doesn't matter. It's the finished picture that counts when judging takes place.
If you think that you can match - or better - the quality of some of the pictures on our web site then why not join the Society and enter the photo competitions and let us see your work.
We hope you will enjoy seeing the pictures in our galleries.
Photographs used throughout this site include contributions from the following individuals: Jon Jayes, George Trebinski, Neil MacIntyre, Brian Phipps, Antonia Lewis, Graeme Purdey, John Plant, Kevin Messenger, Luke Fail, Mathew Peaster, Patricia Tansley, Dave Goffin, and Ross Dakers. All other pictures from the Society Photographic Library. The British Deer Society acknowledges their kindness in allowing these images to be used and thanks them for their generosity.
