Here are some of the comments received from our DMC candidates
I would like to thank Dave and his team for a splendid week of instruction and say once again that I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found it most beneficial in my conservation education. Many thanks for your email and for your tuition and your expertise. It was an enjoyable week despite day 1 hypothermia!
Thank you very much for this. I can now contact Glyn to complete my DSC2 - I was waiting to hear the result and make sure I wasn't a complete prat. The course really was excellent and I learned an enormous amount. As I mentioned my day job is as an inspector of colleges. The course would have been graded as 'outstanding' if I had been inspecting it.
Thanks Dave, I thought the course was very good, congrats to all involved. The estate visit was very good and well worth including.
Thank you very much for running an excellent course. I genuinely thought that it was one of the most interesting and informative courses I have been on. I much enjoyed it and am now looking forward to trying to put it into practice.
Thank you very much for your prompt turnaround of the results and thank you for an excellent excellent course. I am very pleased to have passed, I struggle with figures as you probably gathered and I would like to have a direct conversation with you at some point to understand my strengths and weaknesses within the papers. I am aware that there were areas of lack of experience. Thanks again and the delivery by you and your colleagues was excellent. I am recommending the course to many of my friends and colleagues.
An excellent course, really enjoyed the content, please pass my thanks on to the rest of your team.
Just a quick note to say thank you again to yourself, Chris, Dominic and everyone else involved in setting up and delivering the Deer Management course last week in Elveden. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative week. Not only did I come away having learnt a tremendous amount but I also had a lot of fun. Although my wife might disagree, spending a week in a room with 20 or so people talking exclusively about deer was a great way to spend a vacation! I would certainly recommend the course to anyone with an interest in managing deer and understanding their interaction with the broader farming/forestry environment. I found the estate tour with Jim on the Friday particularly interesting. The revenue they get from stalking initially seemed very high, but hearing Jim explain the financial impact that deer can have on the crops they are growing for the supermarkets, particularly with such tightly-controlled tolerances on size, weight, quality, etc. put a very different perspective on things. It was very good of him and Neil to take the time to explain everything so clearly. Once again, many thanks for an excellent course.
Now that I am back at my day job, and have had a weekend to reflect, and recover, I just wanted to email you, and thank yourself, Chris, and Dominic, for the time, effort and preparation that obviously went in to the course last week at Thetford. While being a very full week of learning, the course was informative, and very enjoyable. On the whole, I think we had a good set of people on the course, which made for good fun during the week, and an informal atmosphere throughout. To say that my eyes have been opened is an understatement, as there was so much practical info that I want to put in to practise in my own stalking, it will take a few weeks to sort it all out. However, I know now that I have the groundwork and foundation on which to develop and build those skills upon. I also know that a lot of course work and training books normally get pushed to the back of the shelf, but I have to say that the candidate info folders we were given were so comprehensive, that mine will be well used - especially the best practise guides, and supplementary information. Thanks again, Dave. I know the week is as hard for the instructors as it is for us, but the fact that you got us all through the course speaks volumes about the BDS and its people !!!!!
