2010 DULVERTON TROPHY AND BDS PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION

 

CLARIFICATION :

Branches are invited to submit the results of their branch photographic competition for the 2010 inter branch photographic competition (Dulverton Trophy) and also for the individual award of BDS Photographer of the Year.

Individual BDS members can also independently submit their own entries for the BDS Photographer of the Year.

THE RULES ARE THE SAME:

 

SUBJECT

Wild or park deer,  UK native species, in any situation. 

All images entered must be of LIVE DEER.   Their welfare is paramount and there must be no disturbance to them during the taking of any photographs.  Pictures must be legally obtained with landowner's permission where necessary.

 

CATEGORIES

·         Images acquired using either film SLR or DSLR cameras.

·         Images acquired using compact digital cameras.

 

RULES

·         Entries must be from fully paid up members of the British Deer Society. Membership number must be included with entry. 

·         The British Deer Society is organising the competition which is open to any member with the exception of the organizing members and any sponsors.  Any branch comp held since April 2010 will be valid for entry and the competition closes on 1st February 2011.

·         Entries must be photographs no smaller than 5"x7" and no larger than A4 and should be un-mounted. Photographs should be accompanied by digital copies on CD ( in JPEG or TIFF format only) Names and address must also be written on all CDs and prints, together with the Category and type of camera used.

·         Up to three images per member may be submitted in each category.

·         Each entrant must hold the sole copyright of each picture entered and, where appropriate, may enter more than one category to a total maximum of 6 permissible images.

·         Pictures that have previously won an open photographic competition (with the exception of local camera club competitions), are not eligible.   Any photograph discovered to have been so entered will be disqualified.

·         The judges, appointed by the organizer, will have the final decision and no correspondence will be entered into by the judges or organizers regarding either the judging or organization of the competition.

·         The winning branch will be notified and the photographs will be exhibited at the 2011 AGM of the British Deer Society, as well as being published in the DEER journal and on the BDS web site.

 

BDS PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.

 

·         The BDS photographer of the year will be chosen from the branch entries for the Dulverton Trophy.

·         Where branches have not entered for the Dulverton Trophy, individual members may submit entries to the BDS Photographer of the Year Competition, however these entries will not count towards the Dulverton Trophy.

·         The judges will also select a runner up and third placed photographer.

·         The organizers reserve the right to publish and or reproduce, without further permission, any image submitted to the competition for the furtherance of the aims of the British Deer Society.

·         Similarly our sponsors may use prize winning images for publicity purposes, and for publication in their catalogues and websites in connection with the furtherance of their businesses. Copyright at all times remains with the photographer.

·         All images are sent at the photographer's own risk and the organizers cannot accept liability for any loss or damage howsoever that may be caused.

 

RETURN OF ENTRIES

The hard copies will be returned to the relevant branches and members.

Closing Date:  1st February 2011.

Judges will be experts in the photographic field in their own right.

PRIZES

 The Dulverton Trophy will be awarded to the winning branch.

Prizes for the Individual Photographer of the year to be confirmed.

Overall winner will receive the title of BRITISH DEER SOCIETY Photographer of the Year.
