British Deer Society - Chilterns Branch

DSC2 Awareness and Practice Day

We plan to run a day to familiarise potential DSC2 candidates with the requirements of DSC2, with Assessors, Accredited Witnesses and DSC1 instructors in attendance. We hope the day will include a practice gralloch and carcass/larder procedures. Contact the Secretary ASAP to register your interest, then a mutually agreeable date and location will arranged.

Newsletter

All members should by now have received an Autumn newsletter kindly sponsored by VALEAG Ltd (Countryside Management). If you didn't get one, contact the secretary.

Range days

Range days planned (organised by other branches) are listed above and in other Branch notes. Please contact the Chilterns Branch Range Officer before attending.

Deer walk - Ashridge

Four deer walks took place at Ashridge, thanks to P Curtis. The joint meeting with East Anglia was particularly enjoyable when R Crawford was presented with the 2006 Jim Taylor Page Trophy.

Cornbury Park Visit

The Branch visited Cornbury Park in September to see Fallow and Sika in the deer park. A fascinating morning learning about the interaction between herds was enjoyed by all. Our thanks to Lord Rotherwick and to Jim Brannan for showing us around.
